Native to the Mediterranean, these are the edible seeds of a number of pines, mainly the stone pine. Growing unshelled, the tiny creamy-yellow kernals have a rich, slightly turpentine flavour. Eaten raw or used in soups, sauces, salads, rice dishes, stuffings etc. Primary ingredient of Pesto sauce.*
